Confidence check

The Conference Board delivers its monthly index of U.S. consumer confidence today.

Economists expect the reading rose in September to 104 from 103.2 in August. A reading of 90 or better reflects a healthy economy. The index, which measures consumers’ assessment of current conditions and their outlook for the future, has mostly declined this year as consumers grapple with the highest inflation in decades and rising interest rates.
