While attending the University of Chattanooga, she met JB Collins of Wauhatchie. They were married in 1955 and settled on Signal Mountain. She worked as a teacher at Chattanooga High School, a bookmobile driver, and an artist. She and her husband raised their family on Signal Mountain, moving to Elder Mountain, and then to Lookout Mountain. They finally settled at the base of Signal, in a house she helped design. Her passions were art, gardening, decorating, tennis, and family. She, along with her husband, loved good food and entertaining.

They were members of the Chaine des Rotisseurs and the Walden Club. They traveled widely.

Mary Anne has now joined her husband. She has received the inheritance guaranteed to her.

He who began the good work in her has brought it to completion.

“For from the very beginning God decided that those who came to him- And having chosen us, he called us to come to him; and when we came, he declared us “not guilty,” filled us with Christ’s goodness, gave us right standing with himself, and promised us.”

She is survived by her sister, Patricia Baker of Amelia Island, Florida, her two sons, Joseph B. Collins III of Nashville, Tenn. and Charles Daniel Collins of Chattanooga and their children, Lesley Anne Collins, Charlie Collins, Joseph B. Collins IV, and Luke Collins.
