Winners of Tennessee Songwriters Week competitions will join headliner Larry Gatlin for the Gatlinburg Songwriters Festival this week. The Chattanooga area had two of the six finalists, as determined in 45 qualifying rounds and six showcase performances earlier this year. Robert Lee won the Chattanooga showcase at Songbirds with the song “Methadone Line.” He advanced from the qualifying round at Rhea County Courthouse in Dayton. Tyson Leamon of Riceville won the showcase at the Bijou Theatre in Knoxville with his song “Who I Am.” He advanced from the qualifying round at the Museum Center at Five Points in Cleveland. The Gatlinburg Songwriters Festival will take place Thursday through Aug. 21 at several venues in downtown Gatlinburg and the surrounding area. The next Tennessee Songwriters Week is Feb. 19-25. The Gatlinburg event will have free admission to most performances. Special events may be attended with one-night tickets or weekend passes. See the lineup at gatlinburgsongwriters.com/ shop.
