Milestone birthday

Charlotte Haynes Burgner celebrated her 100th birthday with two parties, one with the residents of Hickory Valley Senior Living and another with family and friends at the Collegedale Commons. Burgner was born to Leighton and Madge Haynes on Aug. 6, 1922, in Greeneville, Tenn. Except for her years as an Army wife, when she and her now-deceased husband, Lt. Col. Robert W. Burgner, lived in Oklahoma, Japan and Texas, she has been a resident of the Brainerd area for 80 years after her family moved to Chattanooga while she was in junior high school. Burgner worked as a secretary for Seaboard Allied Milling Corp. Her hobbies include needlework, exercising at the YMCA, reading and Japanese cooking. She has four children, eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-greatgrandchildren.
