U.S. stock indexes fell Friday, with Amazon.com's stumble providing much of the drag. The benchmark S&P 500 closed lower but ended July with its sixth-straight monthly gain, its longest such streak since 2018. Amazon slumped after it reported disappointing sales growth for its latest quarter. Because Amazon is one of the biggest companies in the S&P 500, its stock movements carry added weight on the index.
