Dorothy Callahan

RINGGOLD - Dorothy Jane Stephens Callahan, 93, passed away peacefully at her residence.

She was a lifelong resident of the Burning Bush Community. Dorothy was the oldest current living member of the Burning Bush Baptist Church. Her ministry was taking pride in organizing and preparing the Wednesday night meals for the church. Dorothy was affectionately known as Dottie, GiGi and Granny, she enjoyed reading, shopping, Nascar, the Braves Baseball, Braves Family Feud TV show, enjoyed life along with spending time and cooking for her family. She will be remembered for her devotion and servant’s heart.

She was retired from Afton Enterprise as an Administrative Assistance.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband Bill Callahan; parents, John P. & Lettie Jane Stephens; sister, Lanell Stephens and niece, Gina Matthes.

Survivors include her children, Kay (Lamar) Shipley; Donna (Roy) Cooper and Randy (Mitzi) Callahan; grandchildren, Clay Shipley, Eric (Sydney) Shipley and Mia Callahan; great-grandchildren, Owen & Eli Shipley; sister, Marie Curtis and nieces Lisa & Tara Curtis.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 14, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Burning Bush Baptist Church, with Pastor Joseph Frejosky. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens South.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Dorothy’s memory designated to the Building Fund of Burning Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends Monday, June 14, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m. at the Burning Bush Baptist Church, 2195 Burning Bush Road, Ringgold, Ga.
