This data comes from state health departments that often post information later than it becomes available locally due to time required to collect and compile statewide data. The Times Free Press frequently publishes stories and charts based on local data that becomes available sooner. Therefore, Times Free Press stories and charts about individual counties generally will have higher numbers than those listed here. Statewide data remains useful because it allows an apples-to-apples comparison of confirmed cases and deaths in counties based on a single point in time. Bold counties highlight where the Times Free Press is distributed in print.
